I have read and loved all of your books. I also believe family is so important. Love is the most precious gift to give and receive. Right now my only sister and I are on different paths and I hope that they will cross again. Looking forward to reading your new book very soon.

I am so excited to read The Silver Boat. Even the cover is absolutely beautiful. Ms. Rice always captures the beauty of coastal living, family relationships and great story lines all in a fantastic book. She has me finishing one of her books and anxiously awaiting her next one. She is amazing!

  • Suzette

I have not read any of your books, but wanted to check out your Facebook page because I’m always looking for new authors to read. Your book The Silver Boat sounds like a nice memoir of your childhood days and the times you spent with your sisters. I had two sisters, one 15 years older, one 3 years older. We spent time together, but never at a shore, as we lived in Minnesota.

Our childhood home has been torn down and a school built in its place. I often wish it was still standing as I have fond memories of the years we lived there.

Our secondary house, the one we lived in from 1968, is on the verge of being sold, as my mom is now living in a nursing home and the state requires all of her assets to be liquidated before they will offer any assistance in her care.

My sister who was closer in age, died 6 years ago, and now there are very few places left that I can go to remember her and the days we spent growing up together.

It is a sad reality that soon I will be without the home or the sister that I was closest with to revisit. Although she remains with me in my heart and memories, I do understand having a special place that you can revisit to bring even more memories back.

I guess there is still one place in central Minnesota where I feel a close connection to her. It is at St. John’s Abbey, near the lake and the boat house. When she was in school at St. Ben’s I spent a weekend with her and attended an art opening. When the opening was done, a group of her friends and I ran down to the boathouse in the rain and proceeded to drink a bottle of wine and wait out the rains. It was such a great time of story telling and song singing and I have never forgotten it or the feeling of being in that boat house with them. I guess those are the feelings that you are offering in your book and I look forward to reading it.

    Thank you,
    Suzette

I could feel the memories of my childhood bubbling up from inside as I watched the trailer for The Silver Boat. I didn’t have the sisters, but my cousins and I all shared the memories of days spent together at my Auntie Bev’s beach place on Puget Sound. . . Interestingly, I have discovered that all of us have put in our wills that we want our ashes spread there when we die, so I anticipate that Luanne’s book will offer insights that will resonate deeply in my soul.

Luanne? Psst…I do believe I am comment number 154 (chuckles).
I have a confession, ahem, I have only but read one book of yours ( but I think you already know this). However? Silver Boat looks quite intriguing. In fact? in some passing in various stores I see a linage of books in which I declare! I hadn’t known of before the book I first read of yours. That said? I adore the idea of the ‘trailer.’ I’m drawn to Silver Boat already.
Now, as for what shell fish I’d like to be..hmm..wht fun!

Memories are all we have left of a time that speeds by way too quickly, and aren’t appreciated until long after they have passed. Looking forward to your new book.

  • debbie

Luanne, I am very much looking forward to your new book. My sister and I spent our summers on Cape Cod and dream now how we would love to be able to do so again.

  • Suzanne

Wow, sounds like a heavenly, intriguing book. I am looking forward to reading by the fire in our cabin, looking out at the little lake… or taking it out to the beach and curling up on the sand, listening to the waves. (sigh) a wonderful time, no matter where.

  • Jane Murphy

I’m looking forward to this new book, Luanne. I never had sisters and created my own along the way. I have fond memories of the days in Woods Hole many years ago when a special crew of sailors was part of my life!

This book sounds wonderful. I love all your books and that they take place near the water. I have a big family and 1 sister whom I get to see every summer at the beach for 1 week..that is truly my haven..Cannot wait to read this new book..

I’m a newbie to Luanne Rice thanks to a Facebook Ad. I plan to make “The Silver Boat” my first read. Also, this was the first book trailer I’ve seen!! It is very interesting way to reach your readers and make them familiar with who you are. It’s great!

I can’t wait to read your newest book. Each time I read one of your books it’s like a visit home. I was one of five sisters…no brothers. Now there are only four of living and we are scattered in different places. A few years ago our family home was sold. I drove past it last week. It is painted a different color but it still felt like “home”. Well, actually it is…to a different family. Now we gather together on Sunset Beach in Cape May, NJ. That will be our final resting place…then my sisters and I will all be together again. Thank you for all of your wonderful books.

  • Linda Sherrell

Being from Indiana, ocean waves I neither see or hear. But, when reading your books, I am right where you are! Vacation time is only once a year for me, so when I want to go somewhere all I have to do is pick up one of your novels. Thank you so much. Your novels are a wonderful tool in making me and alot of others happy and content!

  • Judy Pascarello

Just watched the trailer and now I really can’t wait to read the book. As usually, you reach out and touch the heart. Good luck with The Silver Boat. Waiting patiently.

  • Renee

You have such a gift wsith words…wether written or spoken. Loved the trailer. I’m looking forward to the book.

  • Dorothy Sanderson

I have read several of your books about sisters and love the stories. I have one sister and though we live far apart in miles we will always be close in heart and memories of growing up on a Kansas farm.
Woudl love to win this book but will read it regardless of how I get it.

  • Nicolette Suarez

I cannot wait to read your new book!!!! I’ve read quite a few of your novels and I’ve enjoyed all of them! I cant wait to read it!

  • Jackie Bierman

I love your books and have them all. I am currently re-reading some of the older ones. The release of The Silver Boat is coming at a perfect time for me. I am having surgery on April 4th and will be stuck home for at least a month. I am very much looking forward to having it to read!

  • Karen Dlask

I have bought and read every one of your books and recommend you to any one that is looking for some thing to read. I am an avid reader trying to read every day and always look forward to a new book by you. I have one sister and cherish our childhood memories, she was there for me when I lost my home in a devastating flood in our town in 2008 letting me live with her and her husband for 15 months until I was able to get a home of my own. Again looking forward to reading The Silver Boat.

  • Connie

I can relate to so much of what you are saying. I, too, have two sisters. We grew up close and have spent a lot of time together even as adults. My husband and I have a place at the beach in NC and still invite my sisters to spend time with me…they are my friends as well as family. My children and grandchildren spend a lot of time at the beach with me and I hope one day they can share the same type of memories you were sharing in your book. Can’t wait to read it…and yes, on the beach enjoying the sand, sun and the sound of the waves as they splash upon the sand.

Luanne I so enjoyed the trailer of “The Silver Boat”.. My family is so very important to me ,I only had one sibling a brother who I lost to Lymphoma in 2001 it was a hard thing for me to deal with and accept.. Then recently lost my Mom and this was the big one which is going to take alot of time for me to get over..My cousins were my brothers and sisters and still are I have some of the most wonderful memories with then as a child our family was very close.. At holidays we would all go to ones house and we would have sleeping pallets all over the floors where everyone was staying all night Christma and Thanksgiving were the special times of memories.. I am still to this day very close with my cousins and couldn’t do with out any of them we all are there for one another to laugh and cry together..
This trailer let me know how close your are to your family and what they mean to you..I have always enjoyed your books and look forward to reading “The Silver Boat”..I always as I read a book put my self in the book as I am watching it all happen ..Keep up writting the books .. a reader Laurie (Madison, Indiana) me I love star fish

  • Eileen Mackinnon

The trailer is great and I am so looking foward to reading your new book. I have two sisters who threw-out the years have had ups and downs with. We tragically lost my brother when he was 19(whom was my Irish twin) and then we lost our Mother 14 months after his death. It changed our family dynamic as she was the glue who held us together. So, when I read your books I get so lost in them. Thank-you for sharing your God given talent to write!!!! :)

  • Vickie Schaffer

This sounds and looks like another good book to take along to the beach. I enjoy reading your books when I have peace and relaxation. After I’m finished reading your stories, I often wonder how the characters are doing…what they went on to do after the book was done.
I enjoy getting to know bits about you from FB.

  • Marcia

This trailer on “The Silver Boat” was great.

Good morning, wow, I just read a few of the comments, and I chose who I would want to win the book myself!!!! Such, sonderful stories from your readers. I do have two sisters, so really feel the connection…We grew up on a farm in the midwest so totally different than your story, but we share the bond of the farm as you do of the lake place. I am always jeleous of anyone with what you are describing as your childhood, because I love the water…really looking forward to reading your new book. It will probably make me cry. thank you so much for giving us your piece of your childhood. it sounds wonderful..thanks again.

  • Alicia Mylott

I, too, have wonderful memories of my 5 sisters and I on a ‘beach’. It was really a muddy lake, but the memories are flooding back..Cindy got a fish hook stuck in her foot… and we all would squeal as the mud squished between our toes! Thanks Luanne for taking me back! ((~.~))

I have to admit the cover of your books really get my attention- it’s how I started reading your books. I was on the East Coast last week and took your book, Sandcastles to read. Ironically we stayed at Sandcastle
and when I came home I found a writing of mine, that I forgot about- one year later. Yep, titled Sandcastles.

I love all your books – I guess I especially like them because I can relate to the locale, living in coastal Georgia. Growing up with 2 brothers, and then raising 2 sons, I always wished for a sister, but never more than I do now in my 60′s. This is why I love your sister books because I can live vicariously! I can’t wait to read The Silver Boat.

  • Nancy Welch

I have read almost all of your wonderful books. I love the way they all take place at the beach or resort towns. I have pre ordered this book from Barnes and Noble, and can’t wait to read another great one. Thanks Luanne. Keep up the good work.

  • Meg

Luanne, what makes your books special to me is the mentioning of New Britain and places there. I miss those times and what my life would have been like if we didn’t move. I miss all those friends I lost contact with there but am so happy to have reconnected with several including Maureen. Thank you for writing those wonderful books. I am sure this one will be just as wonderful.

    Dear Luanne,

I absolutely loved your trailer for The Silver Boat. Talking about sisters, places of where we’ve grown and moved away. My sister (Michele) and I have both moved away and have had different lives but we are so ever close and have a bond that could never be broken and have those memories of Newport, R.I. that we will always cherish and look back on and remember when times were different and our lives took a different role.

When I watched your trailer Luanne, everything I was hearing was such a reminder to what my sister and I shared and how much we had as children. You never want to forget those Special memories and always want to look back and reminisce to a time when things were more simple! I cried watching your video trailer, It is Beautiful Luanne. Thank you for all of your wonderful books that you share with the world. Michele and I now have our mom reading your books too!
    Love, Lisa Vars Heil
