My favorite book!!! Was always horse crazy when I was a young girl (still am actually. ) This book made it seem more of a possibility for the everyday girl. And Pony Penning Day falls right near my birthday, so that always stoked the dream.

    Hey Luanne,
I didn’t know you were obsessed with Misty. The beach I grew up spending my summers at-that remind of of your stories, was right near Assateague. We used to go there all the time and sit on the beach with the wild ponies. It is quite different now-way too many people!!

      hi jen,
i loved misty and all horses. how fortunate you were, growing up at a beach near assateague. i love it there–for the ponies, but also for its protected status. amazing wildlife… once, walking through a thick pine forest behind the dunes i felt something brush my hair–it was a low-flying owl, silent as it glided from the tree right over my head. i haven’t been in several years. it’s so hard to take when beautiful wild places change…
